It is that time of year again; time to celebrate the holidays with our friends and family…and an excellent time of year to give! Last year, FMoS hosted a donation drive in part with Treehouse for Kids. Our team reached out to friends, family, & vendors; collecting just over $4500 in youth clothing, holiday gifts, and monetary donations. The 2015 FMoS holiday donation drive contributed in providing approximately forty-five local area foster children with a merry & bright holiday season. This year we are setting our sights on reaching our fundraising goal of $5500; ensuring that we make a difference in the lives of as many Seattle area children as possible. FMoS friends & family are invited to take part in this year’s holiday donation drive & help us make this a magical & memorable holiday for our foster youth. Gift tags will be added to our festive holiday tree tomorrow. These tags are the individual wish lists and needs of foster children in the greater Seattle area. 1. Alfieri (2017) Very few cars are deserving of hype prior to their release. However, there aren't many cars like the 2017 Alfieri. Based off the design of models built in the 1920s and 1930s and updated to modern standards, the Alfieri demonstrates Maserati's dedication to continual improvement. The 2+2 coupe features an elegant exterior, and the interior opulence Maserati enthusiasts have come to expect. Under the hood, the Alfieri has the same 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6 found in the Ghibli and Quattroporte, although it pushes a whopping 450 horsepower. If that's not enough performance, the Alfieri will also have a 520 horsepower engine option. more 2. 3500 GT (1957-1964) While the 3500 GT isn't widely known, as there were only 2,200 made, it was an important stepping stone for the Italian automaker. Prior to 1957, Maserati almost exclusively built cars for racing, but the introduction of the 3500 GT was the company's first attempt at producing a consumer vehicle. Today, it is one of the most coveted and expensive cars from the era, with the 1959 model fetching prices as high as seven figures. Even the famous car collector Jay Leno reportedly has one of these gems in his collection. 3. Tipo 61 Birdcage (1959-1961) The first race car on this list is also one of the finest examples of aerodynamic and lightweight engineering by Maserati. Although it only lasted three years on the production line, racing enthusiasts remember it as one of the most feared cars on the racing circuit. With a body weight of just over 1,300 pounds, pieced together with over 200 components, and a 250-horsepower, 2.9-liter, four-cylinder engine, the Tipo 61 achieved a top speed of 186 miles per hour. This model also won the famed Nurburgring 1000 on two separate occasions. A collector purchased one of these winners for over $2 million. 4. Quattroporte (2004-Present) After a lull in popularity in the 1990s, Maserati looked to redefine their image and gain some momentum heading into the 21st century. The Quattroporte did just that. While it's technically a sedan, the Quattroporte looks like a souped-up, elongated sports coupe. The extra room provides space for four passengers to sit comfortably, yet doesn't deprive the driver of pure performance. Under the hood, the Quattroporte sports the same 3.0-liter V6 engine as the Alfieri, although an upgrade to the GTS trim provides a 4.0-liter V8 that pushes speeds up to 190 miles per hour. With the storied history of Maserati, it isn't easy to name all of their best models in one fell swoop. Spoilers Custom spoilers can give your Maserati a unique look that sets it apart from other models. Not only do they enhance the look of your vehicle, they also upgrade the performance. Enjoy the Outdoors at Green Lake Park Green Lake Park is one of the more popular parks in Seattle. The 323 acres offers a quiet retreat in the middle of the urban area. A 2.8-mile path surrounds the lake and is the ideal place for walking, jogging, skating, and biking. Milstead & Co. The highly talked about, and sometimes deemed snobbish Milstead & Co. is by far one of the best places in Seattle to get a craft coffee. The coffee at this coffee bar is incredibly flavorful, and the atmosphere is welcoming. A favorite drink among locals is the Theo Mocha, which is not only full of flavor, but it is also quite delectable. Milstead & Co. is on 34th Street and opens daily. more Espresso To Go Espresso To Go, better known as ETG Coffee is a shop where you literally grab your coffee and go. There is only one table in this place, so you can't sit down to enjoy their incredibly delicious pastries. Instead, you will take your latte or espresso and head out into the Fremont area and explore the vintage atmosphere. Espresso Vivace Roasteria If you are looking for a place that starts trends instead of following them, visit Espresso Vivace Roasteria in the Capital Hill Area. This cool coffee shop was making patterns with the foam on your coffee drinks before that was even a thing. Plus the coffee is of superb quality, and locals rave that you will find the best espresso here. Caffe Ladro Starbucks started out as a small little place in Seattle where you could get a great cup of coffee and now look at it. Well, Caffe Ladro is on its way to being the next Starbucks. This small shop that serves excellent coffee in a relaxing atmosphere, has expanded and now has 15 cafes that you can visit. Although every place now open is in the state of Washington, it won't be long before you see Caffe Ladros in other states. Street Bean Espresso Street Bean Espresso makes this list for a couple of reasons: one, they have outstanding coffee, and two, they put people to work that many other businesses won't. Believing in supporting their community, Street Bean Espresso has started a program in which they will train the youth that lives on the street and help them get into jobs. For every bag of coffee purchased from this cafe, one hour of youth training is provided. This says a lot about the ownership and makes this cafe worth visiting. As you can see, it was tough to narrow down this list, but these four places offer something that the others don't.
